Hey everybody, just got my Akai MPC One Gold Edition stand alone DAW used. I’m liking the work flow so far. Seems to be a moderate learning curve. I understand comparatively with a PC based D.A.W., that this would be a bit more intricate. The smaller screen I think is the limiting factor. Moving between bars seems simple enough though.
I finally pushed the button on buying this thing. I bought the gold edition used. I did a little bit of research. And this got me over the Maschine because the MPC One can sequence CV and Gate. I updated the firmware to 2.9X easily(on windoze, couldn’t figure out linux) It easily found my midi device I plugged in (waiting on my USB hub). My main intention with this stand alone DAW is to control midi and CV synthesizers. Specifically on my little make shift synth wall. Along with a drum sequencer.
My goal with this set up, my routing as it were.. I want to feed 8 mono inputs into the Zoom r16. I plan on using the separate left and right out of the MPC One as channel 1 and 2 on the Zoom. Then various synths as the rest of the inputs. Then impute back into the MPC One with two channels(left and right), so I can sample 2 separate tracks mono. With CV I have a small euro rack set up that this would be ideal I think, to sequence. I also have a few midi pieces that I want to set loose.
I do have a HP z800 as a dedicated PC DAW. That thing is way overkill though for most of what I do. I want to use the Zoom r16 as a USB interface to LMMS /audacity/ardour(I’m Cheap) on Linux. For post production, effects, etc. Maybe eliminate the PC DAW all together? With various eurorack effect units?
Monitor is a Kustom PA50 and a Klipsh powered 10”(no stereo lol)
I haven’t tried to register with a used MPC One Gold Edition yet. So I’m hopeful I can get the software that should come with this thing. I generally don’t use windozs but I could dual boot I suppose if the PC software is > LMMS on linux.
